Madeira Beach Access

John’s Pass is the inlet between Madeira Beach and Treasure Island, with John’s Pass Village on the Madeira side. The village is a boardwalk of tourist shops, fishing charters, and restaurants. The actual beach access is west of Gulf Boulevard, not inside the village itself. Park in the village garage or lots if you are going to the boardwalk or a charter. St. Petersburg Municipal Beach is the City of St. Petersburg’s beach on Treasure Island, not downtown St. Pete. It sits on Gulf Boulevard with metered parking, restrooms, and a wide public Gulf strip. Sunset Beach is to the west; the Treasure Island tourist hotels sit to the east. Archibald Beach Park is the Pinellas County park on Madeira Beach at 157th Avenue, north of John’s Pass. It has a playground, restrooms, a paid parking lot, and a straight Gulf walkover. North Redington Beach is a small residential Gulf town between Madeira Beach and Redington Beach. Public access is at the numbered avenues off Gulf Boulevard; parking is limited and mostly street. It is quieter than Madeira and John’s Pass. Redington Shores and 182nd Avenue sit just south. Read more...

Upham Beach is the north end of St. Pete Beach at Blind Pass, where St. Pete Beach meets Treasure Island. It is narrower than the hotel beach to the south and is known for groins and sand movement. Parking is at Upham Beach Park. Stay out of the pass channel; the current through Blind Pass is stronger than the open Gulf. Read more...
