St. Pete Beach is the long Gulf barrier island south of Treasure Island, with Gulf Boulevard as the spine. The public beach is wide, the water is usually gentle, and most visitor services sit on Gulf Blvd or a block inland on Corey Avenue. St. Petersburg Municipal Beach is the City of St. Petersburg’s beach on Treasure Island, not downtown St. Pete. It sits on Gulf Boulevard with metered parking, restrooms, and a wide public Gulf strip. Sunset Beach is to the west; the Treasure Island tourist hotels sit to the east. Madeira Beach Access is a public Gulf walkover on Madeira Beach, north of John’s Pass Village. Use it when you want the sand and water without the boardwalk shops. John’s Pass is the inlet between Madeira Beach and Treasure Island, with John’s Pass Village on the Madeira side. The village is a boardwalk of tourist shops, fishing charters, and restaurants. The actual beach access is west of Gulf Boulevard, not inside the village itself. Park in the village garage or lots if you are going to the boardwalk or a charter.
